Senior Buyer
As one of the most recognized and respected brands, my client is well-known worldwide, and an employer of choice. A unique opportunity to join their growing supply management team exists as an experienced Senior Buyer based out of the Vancouver Lower Mainland.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Buyer to join our Supply Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire procurement process from developing RFPs to sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing services. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement principles, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers. Working closely with key internal stakeholders, the Senior Buyer plays a key role in maintaining supplier and vendor governance, relationship management and ownership of contractual agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on quality, costs and reliability criteria.
- Develop and execute contract strategies to achieve the best value procurement for the organization.
- Perform business analysis to guide and support procurement strategies.
- Stay informed on market trends, and industry developments.
- Build and maintain key vendor relationships and seek opportunities for costs and process improvements.
- Negotiate with vendors and prepare various agreements using template documents.
- Manage contract renewals and terminations as necessary.
Key Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or post-secondary diploma in business administration or supply chain management is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement in a fast-paced and complex environment.
- Strategic Sourcing experience.
- Experience in services procurement an asset.
- A professional designation in Supply Chain Management (SCMP), or working towards it, is an asset.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Strong time and organizational management skills
- Experienced in working in a unionized environment, an asset
