Location: Vancouver Lower Mainland

Fully in-office, Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm

Salary: $140,000 - $190,000

My client is a BC born independent construction and construction services business that has experienced phenomenal growth over the last 10 years. As they continue growing and reaching new heights, we are looking for a dynamic finance professional to join the company as the Controller. Our team is built on collaboration, adaptability, and excellence, and we are looking for a highly experienced Controller to lead our financial operations.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Controller with CPA certification and 12+ years of experience in accounting and financial management. Experience in real estate, construction or construction services is preferred. Working closely with the finance team, this is an in-office position. The Controller will oversee and drive financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance while optimizing processes. The role includes direct leadership over Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Payroll, Financial Reporting, and Bank Reporting, managing a team of 3-5 direct reports within a finance department of between 7-12 team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance
  • Oversee AR, AP, Payroll, Financial Reporting, Bank Reporting, and cash flow management
  • Prepare financial statements, analyze profitability, and provide strategic financial insights
  • Develop and maintain strong banking and financial institution relationships
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and leadership to the accounting team
  • Optimize financial processes and reporting mechanisms for efficiency
  • Collaborate with leadership to align financial strategies with business growth
  • Handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced business environment

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation required
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting and financial management
  • Experience in real estate, construction or construction services preferred
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing accounting teams
  • High proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and data analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
